Evan & Amber

I'm so excited to finally share my first wedding from 2015! Amber and Evan contacted me late last year about photographing their January wedding. Although I figured it would be a much colder wedding than I had done before, I don't think anyone predicted it would have been THIS cold! Amber was such a trooper in her beautiful lace, strapless gown. She braved the cold temps with a smile on her face! Amber is one of 10 kids in her family. Yes, you read that right. And I got to share the day with all of them! What a fun group they were! It was such a blessings to photograph this couple and watch how their ceremony, and no doubt their marriage, was covered in God's grace and love for His children. Thanks, Amber and Evan for trusting Paula and I to capture your wedding day! 2015-03-03_00012015-03-03_00022015-03-03_00032015-03-03_00042015-03-03_00052015-03-03_00092015-03-03_00072015-03-03_00112015-03-03_00082015-03-03_00102015-03-03_00132015-03-03_00122015-03-03_0014

Ashley & Josh

If you know Ashley, you know she is a girl who knows what she wants. And it is obvious knowing their love story, that Ashley wanted to be Josh's wife for a very long time. She even started using #becomingmrsvoshell pretty much since the day Josh put that (beautiful) ring on her finger. There was no confusion as to what Ashley and Josh wanted their wedding day to be. It was sophisticated, yet playful and not too serious. It was beautiful but not over-the-top. Every detail, every corner, had the Ashley and Josh touch on it. They cared for their guests and made it a truly enjoyable experience for everyone there. I shot this wedding with my partner-in-crime, Paula Richwine. Even with walking pneumonia (her) and a new case of Shingles (me), we managed smile throughout the day and enjoy the whole process. I've mentioned it before, but this wedding was so stylish and filled with character that it made photographing this day such a joy. I hope you enjoy these photographs as they take you through this truly special day. Congratulations, Mr & Mrs Voshell! Shaelyn & Luke

I had the honor of spending the weekend in Michigan to photograph Luke and Shaelyn's wedding back in May. Although I've only known Shaelyn for a short time, I knew I couldn't miss the chance to spend this special time with Luke and the Petersons as they welcomed this sweet bride into their family. I've known Luke literally since he was born. His sister and I were best friends from a young age and we've shared in a lot of milestones through the years. The memories are too numerous to list in one short blog post but you get the idea. The Peterson family is dear to me (and the rest of my family). Luke was the last of the Peterson siblings to get married (he is the baby, after all) and I knew that witnessing this step in the growth of their family may be one of the last reasons to drive halfway across the country just to see these people. It was a privilege to see the events of the day through my lens, knowing a lot about (or a lot more than many other couples I photograph) what each moment meant throughout the weekend. For example, the bittersweet feelings of a sister gaining a brother but knowing her baby sister would be moving away from home. The awe of watching a grandchild be old enough (and mature enough) to stand up front in the bridal party the ENTIRE wedding. The joy of friends to stand beside such a sweet, humble and godly couple. The simultaneous feeling of pride and vulnerability of a dad walking his little girl down the aisle. The overwhelming feeling of love when a groom sees his bride for the first time in her gown walking down that aisle knowing that this was his "payday." The unique privilege the father of the groom had to speak to his son and daughter-in-law at the beginning of their journey together. I don't often cry as a photographer during the ceremony but this had to be my exception. It was truly a joy to be with these two families in a beautiful setting - plus the bonus of spending the weekend away with my sister who put a camera around her neck and helped me a ton! Congratulations, Luke & Shaelyn! Thanks for including me!
