Although it wasn’t just precious Warner present for his 6 month session as a part of his Baby’s First Year Bundle, his blue eyes, gorgeous red hair, and adorable smile sure stole the show on more than one occasion! Along with his two sisters, we trekked through this beautiful park and had the perfect evening for family photos! I’ve loved working with this family since Audrey, their oldest was just an infant! So thankful for families like this one - and happy to provide memories like these to remind them of how fast these kids grow! But seriously, can you believe this eyes?!
When your beautiful friend asks you to take her maternity portraits for her during the very short time her husband is in town, you do it! I would have gotten up at any hour of the day to make sure these sweet moments with Noemi’s growing bump could be documented. This couple is so dear to me and this baby is worth celebrating! So thankful to be included in the process in such a special way. We totally lucked out (remember I mentioned those few hours daddy was in town) with weather and location and got to work in this beautiful field of buttercups!
I met Mark and Emmalee a few years ago when I photographed their beautiful May wedding. Little did I know that our relationship would take a deeper turn a couple of years later when we found ourselves bonding over mutual feelings of despair and grief from miscarriage. Getting to know Emmalee even around the time of her wedding, and learning of the strength and sweetness about her due to losing her father when she was younger, was really remarkable. She and Mark were a joy to work with on their wedding day. Having never anticipated the struggle with infertility they would encounter, we would never have known how our paths would keep crossing after their wedding day and through the first few years of their marriage.
Emmalee became pretty open with me after watching me from a distance lose babies to miscarriage when she found herself face to face with the same pain. Emmalee and I quickly moved from a client/photographer relationship to a really sweet friendship. After months of texts, emails, chats and prayers together, Emmalee shared the joyful news that she was expecting again after miscarriage! Having cherished my own pregnancies with my Rainbow Babies, I told Emmalee I’d be honored to do her maternity photos. Here are some of my favorites from their session a few months ago!
Fast forward a few months, and I was overjoyed to hear of the birth of Tesa Kathryn - spelled this way to honor and reflect the initials of Emmalee’s late father. Tesa was a precious gift given to Mark and Emmalee after a long and painful journey. Watching couples stare at their newborns always feels magical - but it’s especially amazing when you understand the journey taken to get to that point when they’re holding this tiny miracle that they often doubted they’d ever receive.
The same house that I photographed Emmalee putting her wedding gown on in a few years prior, was where I met sweet baby Tesa for the first time in the arms of her beautiful Mama. This day was so amazing. Not only because I got to capture these fleeing moments with new parents and their new baby, but because of the conversations we shared about God provision, answered prayer, and mutual understanding of the paths we had both walked. Emmalee even gave me a bracelet honoring my miscarriages before I left their house that day. Talk about special!
On top of it all, Tesa could not have been more perfect for our session. She was awake and alert but not fussy. She fell asleep in a timely manner and didn’t mind much when we would change her clothes or move her around for a new photograph. It was truly a joy to be with the Lawrence family! Congratulations, Mark and Emmalee for entering gracefully into this next chapter of your lives together.
